Approach

I am Canadian, I live in Kailua-Kona, and nearly all of my work happens outside in whatever light the island is giving that evening. The Big Island does most of the heavy lifting. My job is knowing where to stand and when, and carrying on after the sun has gone while the sky is still holding its colour.

I will pose you, because posed pictures are good fun and they give people something to do with their hands. But the frames I keep are usually the ones straight afterwards, once everyone has stopped arranging themselves. I want your ideas too. Sessions go better when you tell me what you actually like, and that is what makes the photographs look like you rather than like everyone else I have ever photographed.

Bookings of three hours or more come with a second photographer, so the room where everyone is getting ready and the ceremony site can be covered at the same time. Everything comes back in a password-protected gallery with a USB drive and a print release, in about six weeks, or in twelve days if you need it sooner.
